The Association requested that TISI propose to Australia to consider taking a more gradual approach to limiting the CO 2 emission, increasing the requirements on a yearly basis, and providing more timeframe to comply to the regulation. TISI noticed Australia accordingly to provide entrepreneurs more time to adjust, as well as entered into a bilateral discussion with the Australian representatives during the 92 nd Meeting of the TBT Committee on March 2024 at Geneva, Switzerland. After consideration of concerns from international and domestic stakeholders, Australia announced the amendments to the regulation in April 2024, adjusting the CO 2 emission limit for light-commercial vehicles to 210 g/km in 2025 and 110 g/km in 2029. The limit of CO 2 emission in 2025 would be calculated from the vehicles exported into Australia from 1 July 2025 onwards. The regulation would also be revised in 2026 to be in line with the vehicle manufacturing technology of the time.
